Overview
Online learning: Here to stay and flourishing: Online learning is here to stay and like the cliché stated by the one of the Star Trek’s nemesis, the Borg, “You must be assimilated: resistance is futile.” Well, we’re not stating your current physical development is at peril but we are emphasizing the evolution and growth of the Internet is offering for online learning endeavors and opportunities will not go away and its constantly changing. It is up to educational institutions, governmental agencies, and organizations to adopt online learning paradigms and improve its educational and teaching infrastructure to benefits students, employees, and the community.
Thus, assimilating to the online learning paradigms and its innovations is entirely a good decision. Draves (2013) identified that online learning will constitute 50% of all learning and education through the Internet in the 21st century. The following topics of this module will elaborate principles of distance learning with respect to best practices offered by Quality Matters (QM), and book resources of Advanced Teaching Online, and The Online Teaching Survival Guide.
